If you spot a suspicious message trying to trick you into giving away personal info or money, don’t reply or click anything. Instead, flag it with Google – they’ll investigate and hopefully shut down the scammer’s account – or at least let the clueless account holder know the account has been compromised.
If the email comes to your Gmail mailbox, then block the sender or mark the email as spam in your inbox – that’ll do the same. It helps train Gmail’s filters and keeps your account cleaner in the future. If However you don’t have that scammer email in a Gmail mailbox because you use 365 instead for example, the you’ll have to flag it to Google manually.
Here’s how: head over to https://support.google.com/mail/contact/abuse – Fill out the form with the sender’s Gmail address, the email’s subject, and the full message (including headers — Google shows you how to find those) and submit. Don’t let the scammers get away with it!
